Shopping Overview

Understand how your products are recommended across AI search engines and identify opportunities to improve their visibility in AI-powered shopping experiences.

Getting Started

Navigate to AI Shopping from the sidebar and upload your product catalog. Once your products are indexed, Cite AI begins tracking how they appear across AI-generated shopping recommendations.

Your Products table becomes the central place to monitor visibility, rankings, competitor performance, and recommendation trends at the product level.

When users ask AI assistants for product recommendations, the models generate a shortlist of relevant products. AI Shopping helps you understand:

  • Which of your products are recommended?
  • How prominently they rank.
  • Which competitors appear alongside them.
  • Where you’re gaining or losing visibility.

Unlike traditional brand tracking, AI Shopping analyzes performance for each individual product, giving you deeper insight into how your catalog performs in AI search.

What AI Shopping Tracks

AI Shopping measures how products appear across AI-generated shopping responses and aggregates performance at the product level.

It provides insights into:

  • Product visibility across tracked AI shopping prompts.
  • Average ranking within AI recommendations.
  • Competitor products appearing alongside yours.
  • Share of Voice across shopping conversations.
  • Product-level performance trends over time.

These insights help merchandising, ecommerce, and marketing teams understand which products AI models prefer to recommend and where optimization opportunities exist.

Overview Dashboard

The Overview dashboard provides a high-level view of your overall shopping visibility and competitive performance.

It includes:

  • Performance Trends — Track visibility, average position, Share of Voice, and recommendation trends over time.
  • Top Performing Products — Identify the products most frequently recommended by AI models.
  • Competitive Insights — Compare your products against competing products appearing in the same recommendations.
  • Visibility Distribution — See which products consistently appear and which rarely receive recommendations.
  • Shopping Queries — Discover the product searches and purchase-intent prompts driving AI shopping recommendations.
  • Related Search Queries — View supporting search topics and shopping intents that influence AI-generated recommendations.

Best Practices

  • Upload your complete product catalog to ensure every product can be tracked.
  • Monitor visibility alongside rankings to understand both reach and recommendation quality.
  • Compare products within the same category to identify competitive gaps.
  • Prioritize optimization for products with high opportunity but low visibility.
  • Review individual product insights to understand which prompts trigger recommendations and where competitors outperform you.
  • Regularly monitor trends to measure the impact of product, content, and merchandising improvements over time.

AI Shopping helps you understand not only whether your products appear, but also why competitors are being recommended instead, enabling you to make data-driven decisions that improve visibility across AI-powered shopping experiences.
