Share of Voice (SoV) represents the percentage of brand mentions your brand receives compared to all tracked competitors across AI-generated responses.

It shows how dominant your brand is whenever AI platforms like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and Perplexity mention brands in their answers.

A higher SoV means your brand is not just present, but leading the conversation among competitors.

How Share of Voice is Calculated

SoV = (Number of times your brand is mentioned) / (Total brand mentions across all tracked brands) × 100

This gives you a percentage that reflects your brand’s share of total mentions within AI responses.

How Share of Voice Differs from Visibility

Visibility Score measures how often your brand appears in AI responses overall.
Share of Voice measures how often your brand appears compared to competitors within those same responses.

Example:

  • Visibility: If your brand appears in 4 out of 10 responses, your visibility is 40%
  • SoV: If your brand is mentioned 4 times and competitors are mentioned 12 times, your SoV is 25%
